To begin, ask your child to think of three specific things: something specific about themselves (that they’d like you to know), something that they’d like to know about you, and something that they’d look forward to doing together. As they think about those three things, share that you’ll think of the same to share, too. After allowing a few quiet moments of think time, ask your child if they’d like to go first or if you should.
Then, follow your child’s lead and take turns sharing those three specific things aloud.Afterward, thank your child for sharing and expressing genuine excitement over getting to know them better. Explain, too, that God puts people in our lives at specific times for special purposes, and that God has the two of you together right now for a very special purpose, too.
Point out that you know this because God’s Word, the Bible, tells us that God doesn’t want us to live life alone. God wants us to share our lives—and our time—with others.End the activity by explaining how grateful you are to be able to spend time with him or her, and how much you’re looking forward to getting to know them even better.
